Academy Overview
Academy Soccer General Information

The Academy soccer program is for players (and their families) interested in developing their abilities beyond the recreational level through hard work and a commitment to increased levels of soccer training and competition.

The Academy soccer program requires playing games outside the club in a local league with home matches on SYSO fields and with travel to away matches against other clubs in the CT area. Generally speaking away games are within a 30 – 45 minute drive although there are a few exceptions.

As a general rule SYSO forms new Academy teams in the summer of each year through open evaluations. Teams are formed for both boys and girls for U8 and U9. Most age groups have two or more teams. Note: SYSO reserves the right to form teams through appointment when forming developmental teams such as those at the U8 level. Teams compete at various levels described herein depending upon the competitive needs of the players involved.

TheAcademy team year begins on August 1 and runs through July 30 of the following year. The team is selected for a one year (12 month) commitment. This includes pre-season fall training's, the fall season, the winter season, and the spring season.

The SYSO Board through the Travel Director directs the Travel Program. Stephen Bell, SYSO`S Director of coaching supervises the development of our players, teams and coaches.
